The Really, Really Long Weekend

My parents came out this weekend to see the Fort Bridger Rendezvous which is supposed to be quite the show - though it competes directly with Nimrod Jubilee Days which is white trash partying at its best. My mother had been feeling unwell for a few days and my dad was also slightly off. Sunday though my mother couldn't make it more than 10 feet without getting extremely dizzy and nearly passing out. I insisted that my dad take her to emergency.

Good thing. Turns out she was bleeding internally and tests showed she'd lost half her blood volume. Half! They immediately started pumping blood into her. By Monday morning she'd had four units pushed into her. She had surgery, but they were unable to identify the source of the bleed. The doctor decided to send her home because in his opinion, he'd fixed everything. Today, my dad drove her to a real hospital in Ogden where it was revealed she'd lost still more blood. I expect she'll have a real doctor who knows what he's doing work on her tomorrow.

Lesson learned. Do NOT get sick here.
