Excitement

Okay not really, but I needed a title. One fun thing I looked up today was the Netflix of books - booksfree.com. $20 a month for 6 books at a time unlimited usage with free shipping both ways. There are cheaper plans but the shipping is 5-10 days and I would be stuck without anything to read if I went with a lesser plan. I'm pretty excited to try it. Most people seem positive about it. It would be good to have an address though before I sign up.

In other news, the cows out here are evil. Seriously.

I'm going for a drive tonight to give me an excuse to charge my iPod. My life is super exciting, I have to say.

Not Dead Yet

Sorry for the long time between postings. I don't have a computer in my hotel and I didn't have access to my work computer until Thursday. They monitor internet usage a lot so I didn't want to log on there my first week.

I have a new cell phone that I'm trying out. Next week I'll try something else. Eventually I'll settle on something.

My life is really not very interesting right now. I'm still trying to get over the fact that I've only driven 5 miles since Saturday. I'm also trying to get used to the idea of going home for lunch. I have never had a job where I would go back home for food and relaxation. Also, the part where I leave for work at 7:58 and get there at 8 has a lot of appeal.

I have not yet started looking for a place to live. Apparently, it's really hard to find somewhere in the valley. I did manage to get the entire neighborhood in Nimrod to work on a plan for storing my stuff once I close on the house. One neighbor will drive, one's supplying the truck and another is supplying the trailer. My mom's really excited to have a semi-trailer parked in her yard for the foreseeable future.

And this is quite the boring entry, but I didn't want anyone to think I'd died or something. Oh and the bastards let me watch FSN North, but black out the Twins games. I hate them. I do, however, get to watch the pregame and I "watch" the games on my cell phone's internet.

Holy Hell

So you know how the real estate market really sucks and nobody can sell anything? As far as I'm concerned it's all a lie. My house went on the market yesterday afternoon. An hour later someone wanted a showing, two hours after that I had an offer.

That's right people. I sold my house today. Do you have any idea how fun it is to be driving down the freeway in interesting weather while negotiating the sale of your house? In addition to the funtastic sale, the woman also wants to move in ASAP. We pushed back to a May 15 closing, but I now have no place to store my stuff and no place to move it to. The cost for the moving company to store it is astronomical so that's out and I'm at a loss.

That said, my moving people are really awesome and have helped me immensely already but I'm stressed to the breaking point. Who the hell knew my house could sell in mere hours?!

Free beer

My hotel this evening is providing free beer and appetizers. I think this idea should be adopted all across the US.

Blizzard #2 is on its way. I'm delighted to say I will once again be driving into it. Weather is bad.

Iowa sucks. Don't go there.

Yesterday, I drove into a blizzard. The roads seemed okay though so I passed 90 and continued into Iowa. I turned around at the first opportunity and returned to Minnesota where the roads and weather were better. Just say no to Iowa.

Staying in Minnesota also allowed me to remain in Twins Territory one more night where I watched the Twins defeat the Evil Empire in epic fashion. Yay for Ortiz! Who thought we'd be saying that?

I got myself to Sioux Falls where Sarah aided my trek in telling me what part of town has decent hotels. I'm happy to report that the Baymont was not only cheaper than the Ramada of Jaynesville, it also has pillowcases. It's also immensely cleaner and nicer. In the morning, I made waffles.

In Sioux Falls this morning, the news was all atwitter about the discontinuation of study hall. Apparently, students are not using it to study.

I'm off now to the great state of Nebraska. I'm sure it will be great fun.

This whole not going to work thing is rather fun. I'm starting to think that maybe I don't need a job, I can just run around all day doing things I want to do. I wonder how long it would take me to get bored? I think I've been pretty productive.

And now it's supposed to snow. Oh joy! Oh rapture!

People Who Suck

Last night, I went to the game. It was student night and you know what that means...10,000 drunk college kids texting, waving and standing up on the stairwells doing their level best to block my view of home plate.

I decided to sit in the reserved section. If you do it right, you can sit close enough to where people actually have purchased tickets and still be in seats that no one will want to sit in. Throughout the game more and more college kids moved into these seats. The extremely drunk kid in front of me was drinking "Sunkist" which I'm sure was lots of vodka with a small amount of the orange drink and waving around a joint. Good times.

In the seventh inning, the ushers decided that they needed to move all these people out of the reserved seats and back to the outfield. The hell? So this blue shirted usher came into the stands and started threatening to toss anyone who didn't have a reserved ticket if they didn't move back to the outfield. He came up to me and asked if I had a ticket. I told him I didn't know and could he please just go away, I'm trying to score the game. He went away. Why harass a single person who was actively paying attention to the game when there are hundreds of other non-baseball watching students around her? And why would they suddenly decide to do this in the seventh inning? Ushers suck.

Also, the bottom of the third inning was the longest inning ever. I had to pee. Really, really bad. The Orioles pitchers couldn't find the strike zone to save their lives. Typical.

All Baseball All the Time

So it turns out I get a free preview week of MLB Extra Innings. This is excellent on many levels. The best part being that I have determined that whichever team is at home is the feed they use for the broadcast (e.g. the Twins were home so Dick and Bert were calling the game on Extra Innings). I was a little worried that I would have to spend the entire season with the opposing team's crew calling the game. Hawk Harrelson would be too much. Thankfully three games at Chicago will have already been played before I leave.

In other news, I've decided that I'm going to the game tonight. Screw putting the house on the market. I'm sick of packing and cleaning.

The Evil Truck

On my way to work this morning my truck hit 66,666 miles. I think the extra sixes made it extra evil for that mile.

Last night, I tuned both TVs to the Twins game so I wouldn't miss any of the action while working upstairs and down. Nice to see Torii Hunter is still swinging at the first pitch. CC to Torii - Even though you hit a homerun on the first pitch, it was not a sign to continue swinging at them. Especially when there are runners on base.

My house is now about an hour away from being ready to open to the public. It's shiny in ways it has never been before. While in the shower, I look around and wish it had been as shiny while I lived there. I wanted to go to the game tonight to see Boof, but I think it will have to wait one more day. I still have one small section of carpet to shampoo and I need to clear out just a few more things. I guess I'll just have to see Ortiz pitch tomorrow.

Actual Progress

I think I may be ready to put my house up tomorrow. My bathrooms are gleaming thanks to a very well spent $75 on a housecleaner. No scrubbing for me! I've got quite a bit of my stuff boxed up, I just need to put the boxes somewhere.

I told my brother I could put it up today, but I refuse to have Opening Day ruined by having to get out for a showing (I don't expect a mad rush to see my house - especially in the current market - but sure as hell if I put it up today someone would want to see it while Santana is sitting bitches down). A said that my priorities are seriously out of whack.

Go Twins!
