Really?
Things to do when Fox picks up the Twins game so it's not showing on FSN Kansas City and then proceeds to broadcast the Cubs and Brewers:
-Swear a lot and terrify the dog
-Clean your truck from top to bottom
-Identify the leak in your windshield wiper system
-Try to figure out how to fix said leak
-Clean the garage
-Swear some more
-Give the dog a bath
-Watch game online thereby cursing Boof
-Turn off online game
-Do some laundry
-Go grocery shopping
-Pull weeds and do other general fall yard work
-Do homework
-Consider boycotting Fox
-Decide against boycott
-Watch White Sox-Indians game for Twins updates
-Decide neither team wants the AL Central title
-Plan a one game playoff between KC and Cleveland for division title
It's Not Me
I watched the game and we still won. I'm thinking it's safe to watch again tomorrow night.
And if by some miracle the Twins do make the playoffs, I very well might cut class. It's not like I care about my grade.
To watch or not to watch
Today, I did my civic duty and provided a valuable community service. I went in and convinced 15 high school students that they do not want to go to Poland. Okay so that wasn't really my intent, but you know, at least I educated them a bit. Do you know how hard it is to engage a bunch of bored juniors and seniors? Oh yes, I even got the guy who clearly thought he was too cool for everything to participate. Discussing murder and mayhem gets 'em every time.
Tonight I gave up watching the Twins blast the White Sox to go to class. It was a tight call and I almost decided to cut and watch the game. Then I realized that I paid hundreds of dollars to learn so I figured I should go. Now that the Twins won though, I'm wondering if they only won because I wasn't watching. Should I skip tomorrow's game too?
Good News
I have my computer back! I dropped my mom off at the airport this morning and after doing some shopping (FYI - if you ever go shopping in Mormonville, go on Sunday 'cause only heathens like me are shopping), I'm now home and able to use my computer mother-free. It's nice to have the parents here, but I also like to use my computer.
Oh and I hooked up my new dryer this week, or rather, my dad did. It dries clothes! It's a marvel. Also, it has a light. Whoever invented the light in dryers is a genius.
Better
So after a major setback on Thursday involving more tranfusions, it looks like my mom will be coming home (to Wyoming) tomorrow. Her doctor has ordered her to fly home so she'll most likely stay here for the week to regain some more strength and then I'll put her on a plane to Minneapolis where someone else can take care of her until my dad can get there. We'll probably give my dad a couple days head start. Planes seem to go so much faster than cars.
Yesterday, I threw the dogs in the kennel for the day and went to visit her. I spent over $800 on the trip. Hospital visits are damn pricey. But at least my truck stops when I hit the brakes and I'll have a dryer that actually dries this winter.
The Really, Really Long Weekend
My parents came out this weekend to see the Fort Bridger Rendezvous which is supposed to be quite the show - though it competes directly with Nimrod Jubilee Days which is white trash partying at its best. My mother had been feeling unwell for a few days and my dad was also slightly off. Sunday though my mother couldn't make it more than 10 feet without getting extremely dizzy and nearly passing out. I insisted that my dad take her to emergency.
Good thing. Turns out she was bleeding internally and tests showed she'd lost half her blood volume. Half! They immediately started pumping blood into her. By Monday morning she'd had four units pushed into her. She had surgery, but they were unable to identify the source of the bleed. The doctor decided to send her home because in his opinion, he'd fixed everything. Today, my dad drove her to a real hospital in Ogden where it was revealed she'd lost still more blood. I expect she'll have a real doctor who knows what he's doing work on her tomorrow.
Lesson learned. Do NOT get sick here.
